EMPLOYMENT NOTICE
 
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office will accept applications for a part-time Animal Control Kennel Assistant.  Applications, along with 3 letters of recommendation, must be submitted to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, P.O. Box 269, Lewistown, IL 61542, by December 17, 2018. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.

910 hours annually $11.23 an hour.

JOB DESCRIPTION: ANIMAL CONTROL KENNEL HELPER

NATURE OF WORK
This position is under the direct supervision of the Fulton County Sheriff. This position performs a variety of routine and semi-routine duties.
This position is essential for the welfare and care of the animals housed in the Animal Control facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
--keeps kennel area and office area clean
--answers phone calls
--waits on walk in traffic to the facility
--assists in general office duties such as filing, filling out monthly reports, intake log
--cleaning animal cages and facility
--feed animals
--may be required to administer medication as prescribed by a vet
--assist Animal Control Officer
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Any combination of education, training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
--ability to operate pickup truck, computer, office equipment, pressure washer
--skills in obtaining information and give clear, tactful explanations of established policies and regulations regarding the Animal Control facility
--must have mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
--good listening and communication skills
--business like demeanor and appearance
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
--must possess a valid Illinois State motor vehicle operator’s license or the ability to obtain one by the start of employment.
 
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Personal computer, telephone, copy machine, pickup truck, portable radio, pet carriers, leashes, muzzles, mop, broom, shovel, squeegee, scrub brush, hoses, pressure washer, and any others as assigned
