Cruise the backroads of Fulton county and take part in the Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive, Central Illinois’ premier arts & crafts fair, which takes place during the first two full weekends in October (in 2014, October 4-5, 11-13). Each year, the Spoon River Drive attracts more than 100,000 visitors to Fulton County, on the hunt for handmade items, crafts, genuine collectibles, antiques, furniture, primitives, original art and artisans, plants, flowers, candles, and more.
There are 18 different sites on the Drive, so be prepared to spend a couple of days looking for unusual treasures, unique finds and just plain fun finds along the way. Bring your tennis shoes and your appetite, because the food on the Drive is just as popular as the hundreds of vendors.
In Canton, the Scenic Drive is held in Jones Park in downtown Canton, where for four days in October, visitors descend on the city to browse through stands and tents, and sample funnel cake, rib eye sandwiches, and the best pork chops on the Drive. Start in Canton, grab a guidebook, and enjoy the organized chaos of getting from one place to another!
