Join us for Family Volunteer Day 2015! Kick off the holiday season with loved ones and an act of kindness on Saturday, Nov. 21 (the weekend before Thanksgiving) to celebrate the 25th Annual Family Volunteer Day. Family Volunteer Day is a day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their neighbors and neighborhoods. Each year, thousands of families use the day to teach children valuable, real-life lessons about compassion and caring. Volunteering also can be a great way for kids and adults to develop skills, learn more about their community and make friends. It doesn't take a lot of time to make a big difference. There are lots of easy and fun ways to get involved no matter how much time you have. From small acts of kindness like donating books or toys to enlisting your family to take part in a community service project, doing good with your family is easy and the list of possible activities is endless. If you are unable to volunteer on this day, make an effort to get out there this holiday season as a family to make a difference in some way in our community! Salvation Army Bell Ringing: Time slots will be available from 10am until 6:30pm. 2 hour or longer time slots. The locations individuals can choose from are Farm King, JcPenny, Kroger, Hy-Vee, Kmart, and Walgreens. First Baptist Church: Buddy Bag Program provides food to students on the weekends who may not have proper meal options. This time of year their goal is to bulk the kids up for the holiday break as attendance and test scores have shown this program is a success for our schools and a necessary program for our community.
