Effective Communications Strategies & Insights for Faith Communities

Communication is more than just talking and listening —it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, and body language. As the disease progresses, individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias lose the ability to use words, but families can find new ways to connect. Join us to explore how communication changes when someone is living with Alzheimer’s, learn how to interpret the verbal and behavioral communication, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease. Followed by: David Myers, Community Educator, will also share what he learned during his 7-year journey of caring for his wife Cheryl who had Alzheimer's. David believes, “Our church family needs to be aware of what is going on in the church family. There is power when people come alongside to walk the journey with those suffering from this disease and those caring for them. And who better to come alongside those on this journey, than the church? The lessons I learned from my journey should not just be forgotten and needs to be shared with those along their own journey. My motto is, “Nothing is wasted!” Registration Call 800.272.3900 Visit alz.org/CRF to explore additional Education programs in your area.
