Canton Croatian Cultural Tour

Canton, IL, August 27, 2017: Canton, IL Croatian Lodge 367 is proud to host Croatian Tamburitza Musicians, TS Sarmeri, for a one night only tamburitza concert on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Tamburitza is the name for the family of stringed instruments native to Croatia. These talented musicians will stop in Canton, IL as a part of a 6 week North America cultural concert tour taking them from Pennsylvania, into Canada, through the mid-west and ending in Pittsburgh, PA before returning home to Zagreb, Croatia. TS Sarmeri will play a mix of traditional Croatian folk songs, popular tambura compilations, and familiar American tunes. The concert will be held at the Canton VFW Post 1984, 1200 S. 5th Avenue, Canton, IL. For the enjoyment of all who attend, dinner will be available for purchase. Doors will open at 3:00 p.m., food service will run between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m., and the concert will go from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Admission for the concert is $5, dinners may be purchased for $10 or a combination concert and dinner for $15. For dinner, Lodge 367, in partnership with Dunfermline Lodge 201, will be serving traditional sarma (cabbage rolls), cevapcici (Croatian sausage), haluski (cabbage & noodles) as well as BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, German potato salad, and a variety of desserts.
